Book Presentation - "Highlights of the National Museum of Damascus"

On the 31 January, 2007, Media Minds assisted the official launch ceremony for the book "Highlights of the National Museum of Damascus" held at the museum in Damascus. Present were H.E. Mr. Dr. Riyad Nassan Agha, Minister of Culture, H.E. Dra. Bouthaina Shaaban, Minister of Expatriates, H.E. Mr. Mohsen Bilal, Minister of Culture, Mr. Campbell Keir, General Manager of Syria Shell Petroleum Development B.V. and Mr. Thomas M. Gebken, Country Manager Syria, Petro Canada and 200 other invitees.

The multinational oil company Shell organised the official launch of this publication. Following Shell and PetroCanada's Director Generals' speeches Media Minds took the audience on a visual journey through the making of this fascinating new book on a selection of the best pieces of the National Museum of Damascus.

The book was given as gift to the Syrian Ministry of Culture by the sponsor companies and it is a compilation of stunning photographs and a sophisticated design that makes a truly special, original and unique product.

Book Presentation - Media conference for "Sentir Murcia"

The Fundación Cajamurcia organised a press conference at Las Claras Cultural Centre in Murcia where the publication "Sentir Murcia" was oficially presented. Several newspaper articles as well as radio coverage echoed the event.

Book Presentation - "Living Valencia"

Town Hall - Valencia - Spain

To formally launch the book on the Spanish city of Valencia, Media Minds presented their work at a ceremony held at the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall). It was led by the City´s Mayoress, Rita Barberá Nolla and other distinguinshed Valencian personalities.

The event was covered by a full range of national and local press which include newspapers, radio and TV.

Book Presentation - "Syria Revealed"

Altaïr - Gran Via, 616 - Barcelona - Spain

In conjunction with Casa Asia, and following the success of the launch of Syria Revealed, Media Minds was at AltaÏr to present some of the images used and discuss the challenges that were faced in producing the book.

Also present was Miquel Molist i Montaña, Director of the Museum of Archaelogy of Catalunya, and Jaume Giné, Secretary General of Casa Asia, who shared their experiences of the country.

Exhibition of "Syria Revealed"
All February, 2004
De Viaje - Serrano, 41 - Madrid - Spain

Throughout the month of February 2004, large format prints of images from Syria Revealed were on display at the De Viaje store in Madrid. For display, the high-quality prints were laminated and bonded to thin aluminium sheets.

To accompany the launch of Syria Revealed, Media Minds was at Madrid's best known travel bookstore and agency, De Viaje, to present some of the images used and discuss the challenges faced in producing the book. In the discussion they were joined by Rosa Regàs, currently Director of the Spanish National Library and well-known writer and journalist.

Interview on Cope, Spanish national radio
4 February, 2004

Santos Valenciano interviewed Helena Diez about "Syria Revealed" on Spanish national radio. The interview occured during "La Gran Manzana", and was heard via Internet broadcast at COPE. It was also transmitted on the national FM frequencies.

 

Media Minds win Photographic Event
January 2004

Nicolas Randall won first prize in the digital category in 2004 Maratón Fotografico event held in Madrid.

Competitors were given a few short hours to portray one of three chosen themes. Nicolas's winning picture was of the Atocha railway station.

After being short listed by a panel of judges from Fuji, Canon and other sponsors, the winners were chosen by popular vote in a three day exhibition of the photographs.
